For 2011, the GMC Savana receives new features. The 3500 passenger van can be optioned with a 6.6-litre turbodiesel engine, and a locking rear differential is available. Electronic stability control is now standard on all models. OnStar is upgraded into its ninth generation for improved voice recognition, and the SLE trim level adds Bluetooth connectivity, XM satellite radio and a USB port.
The Savana is sold primarily as a commercial vehicle, but is available as a passenger van. The 1500 uses a 5.3-litre V8 engine with four-speed automatic. The 2500 and 3500 models use a 6.0-litre V8 with six-speed automatic. The 3500 cargo van can be optioned to a 6.6-litre V8 Duramax diesel with six-speed automatic. The 1500 cargo van uses a 4.3-litre V6 that can be optioned to the 5.3-litre V8.
All are rear-wheel drive, but the 1500 models can be optioned with all-wheel drive. Trim levels on the passenger van are the SL and SLE. The 1500 features eight-passenger seating; the 2500 and 3500 models have 12-passenger seating. An available 3500 long-wheelbase model is 15-passenger.
Features on the 1500 SL include 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, auxiliary rear heater, OnStar with Turn-by-Turn Navigation, engine block heater, painted bumpers, swing-out side doors, privacy glass, manual mirrors, swing-out rear door, variable intermittent wipers, full-length black vinyl flooring, tire pressure monitoring system, front vinyl-covered bucket seats, and CD stereo with four speakers.
The 1500 SLE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, rear air conditioning, power doors locks with keyless entry, chrome bumpers, electric rear defogger, chrome grille, outside temperature display, auxiliary light package, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, carpeting with rubber floor mats, remote starter, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, instrument panel stowage compartment, dual vanity mirrors with passenger side illumination, power windows with driver’s auto-down, cloth seats, CD/MP3 stereo with six speakers, USB port and XM satellite radio.
Available options on the passenger van include all-wheel drive, sliding side door, heated power mirrors, trailer tow package, and power-adjustable front seats.
